A Typical User Problem:
A big, multi locations based company is using SAP for their internal Project Management. They have large number of vendors / project managers, who are using Microsoft Project and other tools for managing their projects. These vendors are supposed to share their project plans with the parent company who in turn have to upload the same into their SAP system. Online access to upload the project plans and make changes is not available to vendors and they have to send these changes through email.

Currently these vendors send their project plans to parent company through email and the parent company manually uploads the same into their SAP system. This synchronization is one time and SAP does not allow any further addition of the data. Any change done by the vendor in their project plans is also recognized as a new plan in the SAP system and this creates lot of redundancies.

Customer Requirement:
Requires a smooth integration between their vendors /project managers and the central SAP system and bi-directional flow of information with their vendors. The vendors should be able to access and upload project progress in the central (SAP) system and updated information should also flow back to vendors. This will allow them (and their Project Management team) obtain real time progress from the vendors and remove the manual updation being done at the moment.

Solution Approach:
Microsoft EPM solution (Project Server 2010) is installed at the centralized premises, which allows vendors to access the Server through internet. This Server (PS 2010) is then integrated with SAP through PSLink, a connector that is already developed and tested. The Connector is installed on EPM 2010 machine. Microsoft Project Server 2010 will thus be fully integrated with SAP (PS Module) through PS Link, for bi-directional flow of information.

PS Link is a SAP certified product and is being used by a large number of customers worldwide.
